Futronic FS80 USB Fingerprint Scanner

Futronic FS80
USB Fingerprint Scanner

Uses proprietary LFD technology
Built with advanced CMOS technology
Multiple OS friendly device

Description

Futronic’s FS80 is one of the most popular choices when it comes to USB 2.0 fingerprint scanners used for applications such as identity verification and registration. It is an intelligent scanner that detects only live fingerprints and is not easily fooled by fake fingers made from silicon rubber or other materials for identity and information theft.

The FS80 is equipped with a patent pending live finger detection (LFD) technology that can produce undistorted raw fingerprint images and transfer it to a PC in under 100 ms. The FS80 uses advanced CMOS technology which makes the scanner extremely power efficient. It consumes less than 600 mW while operating and below 200 mW when idle.

Special Features

Live finger detecting (LFD) technology

The live finger detection (LFD) technology from Futronic is capable of rejecting fake fingers made from silicon rubber and play-doh. This technology is especially useful in times when identity and information theft is a rampant threat. The scanner emits a signal which detects live fingers by a unique reflected signal before beginning the scanning process.

Compatible with multiple operating systems

The FS80 comes packed with a number of features which also includes USB drivers and APIs for the device to work with a number of Operating systems such as Windows (XP, Vista, 7/8, CE 5.0 and 6.0), Linux (kernel 2.4 or higher), Mac OS (10.5, 10.6, 10.7 with Intel CPU) and Android (3.1 or higher with host USB port).

Robust build with OEM upgradable version

The FS80 is built for standalone applications and designed to be part of a bigger system. It features a 14 mm thick crown glass on the scanning area which makes it robust and reliable. The FS-81H from Futronic is however the maker’s OEM module of FS80 which can be integrated into your own products like POS machines and portable voter registration devices.
